To celebrate Earth Day, Airbnb has revealed its 10 most wish-listed UK 'Earth homes', rentals that allow guests to 'immerse themselves in nature and feel totally at one with their surroundings'.

The abodes include cosy caves, a Viking longhouse set in an orchard and hobbit homes that would undoubtedly get the seal of approval from Bilbo Baggins. Wi-Fi is most definitely not guaranteed.

Airbnb says it has witnessed a 20 per cent year-on-year rise in the number of UK guests wish-listing stays in the Earth homes category.

Amanda Cupples, General Manager for the UK and Northern Europe at Airbnb, said: 'In an era where digital distractions are ever-present, the importance of reconnecting with nature for our mind, body and soul is so important. Our Earth Homes category offers tranquil retreats, giving people the opportunity to slow down.'

Kids are bound to love the two 'quirky' bunk beds, while grown-ups can bed down in the 'quaint' double room.

Outside there are three acres of 'lush greenery', with free-range chickens and 'extremely sociable' ducks to meet and a 'totally private' fairy glen with a witch's hut, babbling brook, mini waterfalls and fairy pools to explore.

The listing adds: 'Likened to a giant hug, it's a place [where] you can't help but smile once you enter.'
